The Open Water Diver certification gives you access to vast oceans and your local lakes and quarries. This entry-level certification allows you to participate in many supervised and unsupervised dive activities. You will probably want to take additional training later, but Open Water Scuba Diver certification will start you on your way to many exciting underwater adventures.

During the confined water and open water dives, you will learn how to assemble, operate and break down your scuba kit. You will also learn basic scuba skills such as mask and regulator clearing, buoyancy control, emergency air management, and dive planning.

Who this course is for:

  • Persons desiring to obtain a Scuba Diving certification
  • Persons interested in underwater exploration
Course prerequisites:
  • Minimum age 18, 15 with parental consent
  • Junior Open Water Scuba Diver (10-14 years old)
Course includes:
    • Academics:  Online digital material, logbook, 6 active learning sessions
    • Confined Water Training:  6 pool training sessions, use of scuba equipment for all pool sessions.  One additional pool session, if needed, to be completed within 30 days of the start date. Each student will need to provide own mask, snorkel, fins, and booties for pool sessions.
    • Open Water Training:  4 required open water checkout dives, 2 additional ”Fun Dives”.  Checkout dives will be completed over two days, at our home quarry, must be completed within 6 months of the start date.   Scuba Equipment is available to rent ($ 65/weekend)
    • Recognition of Completion: Certificate, Hard Copy of C-Card, Electronic C-Card, Outer Reef Scuba T-Shirt
